You've likely clicked on this page because you take choosing your realtor seriously. Thank you - you are exactly the kind of potential client we want to work with.
Why us? We believe the decision should be based on two major factors: the 'warm and fuzzy' (client testimonials, our very high level of repeat and referral business, how easy and comfortable we believe we are to work with), and the 'hard facts' (credible industry record, transparent statistics, experience). We don't really believe one means much without the other. Friendly, attentive, and hardworking will get the job done, but with no experience, could unwittingly and innocently make mistakes which may never even be discovered by realtor or client. Experienced, savvy and 'lead you by the nose' will get the job done, but could make the experience bewildering and pressure-laden.
We believe that most people do not take choosing a realtor seriously enough. Many simply make one phone call to a realtor who has a listing they're interested in, or remember that Aunt Mary's friend is a realtor, or call a Brokerage and ask to speak to whoever's available. It's a huge undertaking -one of life's biggest- to commit to property ownership, whether it's the first time or 20th time. Having a professional work with you is invaluable. Choosing that professional should be a similar process to hiring an employee, choosing a family doctor, choosing a dentist, and so forth. In other words, interview a few of us! Pick someone who has a credible industry record, and who makes you feel comfortable and informed. Pick someone who's willing to invest some time in earning your business, rather than just asking what you want and trying to get you in their car to go and 'look at places right away.' Buying a home or property is a complicated, risk-laden process that should not feel like it's complicated and risk-laden if you're working with a good, professional realtor.
We always start with an Information Session, which accomplishes two things: you will get to know one of us before any commitments or actions are taken, and it will serve as an invaluable mini-education on the process if you're a first-timer, or a great re-orientation if you're a repeat buyer. In addition to reviewing the guide, 'Buying Timeline' and a sample 'Contract of Purchase and Sale,' we'll talk about what's going to happen, when, why, and for how much $$ (closing costs, etc.). We will also go over different offer and negotiation scenarios and discuss your expectations and wish list. If you're comfortable with what you've learned about the process and your potential realtor, and are ready to get started, we'll then plan the first steps; if not, we sincerely hope you'll have considered the session to have been a thorough interview of us as your future Realtors!
